Haiti vocational training

It's all coming together

The project is really starting to come together! We've secured the rooms, hired the teachers, and purchased the sewing machines. This past week we selected the students. There were 22 applicants for the sewing school. The applicants were required to take an entrance exam that our teachers prepared. Our first sewing program students will consist of three women and seven men. There is a need for tailors in Port-de-Paix, so we're excited to help train some new tailors for the area. When school stats, there will be an afternoon and morning school. The morning school will start at 7am, and the students will spend one hour learning the process, and two hours on the machines. We're excited to meet our new students! Photos to come!

We have the rooms!

I'm excited to announce that we've rented two rooms to house the sewing program in Northwest Haiti! Praise the Lord! This is a huge answer to our prayers. I can't wait to see them filled with sewing machines and students. If you're interested in helping cover the cost of the room rentals, please visit the donate page.

There's More to Haiti

I love listening to and telling stories. So it's no surprise that one of my primary goals with this ministry is to simply, "Tell the stories." Often times when people talk about Haiti, and other third world countries, the stories tend to focus on poverty. This is understandable, because poverty is real. Very real. I don't want to turn a blind eye or downplay it in any way.

But, there's more to Haiti. So much more. And I hope to show the "more" by sharing a variety of videos, pictures and stories with you. Who knows, maybe you'll see Haiti in a whole new light.
